Start with the source
A rate should be checked on the official website or official disclosure documents of the institution offering it. Third-party pages, screenshots and advertisements can become outdated or omit important details.
APY matters
Many deposit-style rates are shown as APY, which reflects compounding assumptions over a year. A reader should confirm whether the number is APY or another rate format before comparing it with alternatives.
Conditions can change the result
A 4.9% headline may depend on minimum balances, new-money rules, promotional periods, account type, location, fees or relationship requirements. The number alone is not enough to understand the account.
This article is not an offer
ClearPocket Guide does not offer accounts, accept deposits, recommend a product or guarantee that any rate is available. This article explains how to read rate language safely.
